Character Name: Jake
Species: 93% Human, 7% Tawney Owl
Gender: Male
Physical appearence: Being of age 6, Jake is fairly small, with a slender frame. His skin is fair, marred only by a few small freckles on his cheek and nose which just make him look cute. Jake's eyes are of a stormy grey/blue, the colour of the sea after a storm, and he has messy, tousled sandy blonde hair which just doesn't seem to sit where people put it - not that the whitecoats care. Typically Jake can be seen wearing jeans and a light blue collared, short sleeved shirt with the Air Force emblem printed on the front, on the right pocket. He also has blue converses.
Jake's wings are truly something to behold. They are soft feathered, broad and rounded, and chestnut brown, boldly barred and streaked with buffs, blacks and whites forming a cryptic pattern.
Abilities: Jake has the typical owlish ability of completely silent flying, which combined with the fact that he doesn't speak much around adults can often give anyone a panic attack, thinking that he's escaped or wandered off. Other than this, Jake can understand how owls 'speak' to others, what each call means, and can even talk back to them with the correct responces. Naturally, as all experiments have better visual and auditory senses than humans, Jake's senses of these kinds are even more developed, allowing him to hear a mouse rustle some leaves up to half a mile away, and his eyes are extremely sensitive at night.
Personality: Jake is a silent child, especially around adults. He rarely talks to the grown ups, associating them all with whitecoats and nasty painful tubes, syringes and experiments. However while around other experiments, Erasers nont included, Jake will talk to them, even if he only says a few words at a time. Jake is very fond of owls, being able to understand them and talk back to them, and if he is extremely upset or scared, or even hurt, he will hide in a corner, hug his knees and speak owlish to himself, just to hear the comforting 'hoo's, although this works better if there are other owls around. Jake will relax more in the woodland at night, and is content to observe mostly. He doesn't know much about the world, or anything in particular really, but trusts the younger generations more easily than the elder. Typically, as a young boy, Jake loves video games when he can get hold of them, which really isn't that often.
However due to his avian genes being those of an owl, his feathers are soft and as such, Jake cannot fly as well as his peers in stormy weather or harsh winds.
History: Jake doesn't really have a family, all he knows is that he was handed over willingly to the School. He grew up there and was subjegated to the experiments at the age of 2, having developed fairly quickly, and learnt to fly in a sort of jerky, awkward but silent way, due to the cramped conditions of the area. Many of the experiments used loud noises, such as how he'd react to a loud noise due to his owlish qualities and how it would affect his flying, in both light and darkness, which lead to him being 'conditioned' into a fear of loud noises, particularly thunder which was the most common simulation the whitecoats used.
Around the age of 5 and a half, the miniture 'School' that Jake resided in was shut down with orders to bring the experiments to the larger one in Death Valley, to collect the data and make it easier for whitecoats and the Director to study and control the kids. Unfortunately for them, while being loaded into the truck a bunch of the older experiments kicked up a fuss and disrupted pretty much everything, allowing most of them to escape out into the world, Jake among them. The avian-human experiments kept a fairly close eye on the little ones and they worked as a team, and Jake managed to keep up relatively well until nightfall. Due to his owlish genes he flew silently, and exaustion blurred his vision until he was so far behind that he got lost. Jake landed in the woods and hid out there for half a year, stealing food from local stores when there was no one around under cover of darkness to survive, and sleeping high up in a tree. His 6th birthday came and went as Jake, on one very stormy night, got frightened because of the thunder and sneaked into a warehouse where he hid out the storm.
(Jake plays a part in mine and Catalyst's Dove and Sorrow plan, we're currently RPing on private messages at the moment.)
